KazTransOil has started shipping Russian oil for transit to Uzbekistan. The batch is 25 thousand tons. Its transportation is carried out in accordance with the delivery schedule. This year, the expected volume of transit should be 250,000 tons, according to Ia-centr.ru.

The initiative of trilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia in the energy sector was announced in November 2022 and initially concerned gas supplies. During December 2022, the relevant departments of the three states worked out cooperation plans in detail, focusing on its energy side.

As a result, on February 10, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced the acceleration of the study of infrastructure for the supply of natural gas. The decision was made following a tripartite meeting on February 9.

A specific infrastructure component showed itself in the project of the third branch of the Bukhara-Ural gas pipeline, which Kazakhstan planned to build with the participation of Gazprom. Through the implementation of this project, Uzbekistan can increase supplies to the south of Kazakhstan and the Ferghana Valley, and if Russia starts supplying more fuel to Uzbekistan itself, it can increase exports to China.

Energy cooperation between the three states is no longer limited to the gas sector. Projects stimulate the "spillover effect" - first within the industry, and in the future - in related economic areas.
