Uzbekistan will continue to pursue a pragmatic and multi-vector foreign policy based on national interests, Tanzila Narbayeva, chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, said, Sputnik reports citing the press service of the upper house of the Uzbek parliament.

Narbayeva stated the position of the leadership of Uzbekistan at the opening of the 39th plenary session of the upper house of the country's parliament. In recent years, Uzbekistan has raised friendly neighborhood and close cooperation in the Central Asian region to a new level, Narbayeva said.

“Thanks to the initiative and efforts of the head of our state, border issues with neighboring countries were effectively resolved, favorable conditions were created for the development of trade, economic and humanitarian relations,” Narbayeva noted.

“Most importantly, Uzbekistan will continue to pursue a pragmatic and multi-vector foreign policy based solely on national interests for the benefit of its people,” the head of the Senate stressed.

She spoke about the importance of public diplomacy, which creates conditions for the peaceful, friendly, safe coexistence of the people of Uzbekistan with other peoples, free visits to foreign countries, strengthening family ties, and improving the investment climate.
