Since the beginning of 2023, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $312.6 million, an increase of 1.6% compared to a year earlier, says a report of the Agency on Statistics under the President of Uzbekistan, according to the portal Daryo.uz.
In 2023, Uzbekistan imported products worth $258.5 million from Turkmenistan and exported to this country $54.1 million.
Turkmenistan ranks eighth among Uzbekistan's trading partners from January to April 2023.
The main foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan remain China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, South Korea, Germany and Kyrgyzstan, which top the list of countries trading with Uzbekistan.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has switched to direct purchases of energy resources in Turkmenistan. Last year, mutual trade between neighboring countries amounted to $926.3 million.
