Measures to overcome the consequences of the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Turkey in February this year, and to coordinate actions to minimize such natural disasters in the future, were discussed at an extraordinary summit of the UTC heads of state in Ankara.

However, on the sidelines of the OTS summit, the heads of delegations also discussed a number of other important issues. A conversation took place on the work of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Uzbek commission at a meeting between the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The parties also discussed "the start of practical work on the creation of the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone, as well as on the promotion of important cooperation projects in the field of energy, engineering, transport and logistics, and agriculture." This is reported by the Chronicles of Turkmenistan with reference to the state news agency TDH.

During the talks with the President of Turkey, Berdimuhamedov proposed to make full use of the possibilities of transport corridors to expand cooperation, in particular, in the areas of Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, Central Asia-Middle East and the Caspian Sea, as well as to use the infrastructure of the maritime port of Turkmenbashi. It was also said about "working out the issue of supplying Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Turkey through third countries."
