Turkish President presents state awards to rescuers from Kyrgyzstan

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented senior lieutenant of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Temirlan Zhumamudunov with a high-ranking state medal of the Republic of Turkey "For courage and self-sacrifice in saving people" and also awarded a diploma of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Turkey Ruslan Kazakpaev, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The awarding ceremony was attended by the Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Adjikeev and First Deputy Minister Azamat Mambetov.

"It should be noted that the Kyrgyz rescuers successfully carried out search and rescue operations in the Turkish cities of Kahranmanmarash and Hatay, as a result of which 8 people were removed from the ruins, the bodies of 198 dead were exhumed. In addition, Kyrgyzstan handed over a field hospital to provide first aid to the victims, and also organized a yurt camp," the ministry said in a statement.

The ceremony of awarding the state award to foreign search and rescue teams and diplomats who provided significant assistance in rescue operations and disaster relief in the southeast of Turkey was held at the Ankara Presidential Palace of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara.

There were more than 160 professional rescuers in the rescue team from Kyrgyzstan.
