The number of Russians who travel to Kazakhstan to work has doubled, Zakon.kz reports, citing the Eurasian Economic Commission.
In 2021, 31,600 Russian citizens entered Kazakhstan for the purpose of employment, and in 2022, 63,000 Russians entered Kazakhstan.
Director of the Department of Labor Migration and Social Protection of the EEC Altynai Omurbekova notes that statistics are kept only for workers.
“That is, for people who come to this or that country for the specific purpose of working, and these are the people who provide an employment contract upon registration. And how many people have entered in general, this can already be said by the border authorities, migration authorities. Because people may have different goals, we record only those whose goal is employment," said Altynai Omurbekova
In the EAEU countries, according to experts, more than 1.5 million people are considered migrant workers. These are the people who move within the Eurasian Economic Union in search of work.
