Tajik and Azerbaijani Presidents held talks in Dushanbe

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in an expanded format in Dushanbe, Trend agency reports.

The Tajik side considers the visit of the head of the Azerbaijani state as a good opportunity to discuss in detail the topical issues of Tajik-Azerbaijani relations and identify new points of growth, President Rahmon said at the meeting.

"The peoples of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are bound by traditional ties of friendship that have long historical roots. It is gratifying that the interstate cooperation between our countries today is consistently developing on a wide range of issues. It covers political, trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and many other areas ", he added.

He expressed confidence that the agreements that the parties will come to today will fill the agenda of bilateral relations with a qualitatively new content.

In turn, Aliyev stressed that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have been actively interacting for a long time.

"It is very gratifying that in the period of bilateral interstate relations, which have been developing for more than 30 years, we have managed to build a very solid foundation and build a solid building of our friendship on this foundation," the head of state said.

He stressed that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan always cooperate very sincerely, as good friends.

"And during the state visit, of course, new decisions will be made, many documents will be signed that will determine the further development of our relations. We will discuss in detail the broad agenda - and the trade and economic component, very great prospects in the transport and logistics sector, in the field investment policy," Aliyev said.
