The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan plans to raise the marginal retail prices for gasoline AI-92, AI-93 and diesel fuel, Kazakhstan Today reports with reference to Minister Bolat Akchulakov.

“In order to stabilize the domestic fuel and lubricants market, it is necessary to reduce the price difference between Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. Therefore, we must take a difficult, but at the same time necessary step - to raise marginal retail prices," the head of the Kazakh Ministry of Energy said.

According to Akchulakov, it is planned to increase the marginal retail prices for AI-92 and AI-93 gasoline from 182-187 (depending on the region) to 205 tenge per liter (an increase of 11%), and for diesel fuel - up to 295 tenge per liter . Now, depending on the region, the price varies from 230-260 tenge (on average - an increase of 20%).

“If we do not reduce the difference in prices now, then in the near future we will face a total shortage of fuel. Moreover, it will close the way for further development of the industry and threaten the country's energy security," Akchulakov said.
