After arriving in China on an official visit, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the Kazakh-Chinese investment round table in the city of Xi'an.

Despite the difficult economic situation in the world, trade and economic relations between the two countries continue to develop dynamically, Tokaev told the participants. At the end of last year, the volume of bilateral trade reached a record high of $31 billion.

“China is one of the five largest investors in the Kazakh economy. The total amount of investments is more than $23 billion,” said the head of Kazakhstan.

Returning to the high-level talks held the day before, Tokayev noted: “We had a fruitful exchange of views with President Xi Jinping on a wide range of issues in bilateral relations, reached specific agreements, and signed a joint statement. On the whole, it is safe to say that my state visit to China was a success. The agreements reached will give a powerful impetus to close cooperation between the two countries. Kazakhstan is interested in further strengthening of multilateral ties with China. We will make every effort to achieve this goal. A number of large companies with Chinese capital are successfully operating in our country. Among them are corporations such as CNPC, CITIC, NFC, Sinopec, Huawei. Despite this, we need to further strengthen the potential of our cooperation," the President of Kazakhstan said.

During the state visit, 47 documents were signed for a total of $22 billion.

Tokayev is in China to attend the "Central Asia-China" summit, which was attended by the heads of all the other states of Central Asia.
