Parliamentary Commission announces 47 tons of gold reserves in Kyrgyzstan

The temporary deputy commission of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on studying the production and sale of gold, the activities of the gold mining company "Kumtor Gold Company" since the transfer to the ownership of Kyrgyzstan did not detect theft, distortion of the quantity, quality and cost of stored, exported and sold gold in the company, said the chairman of the temporary deputy commission Arslanbek Maliev.

As of January 26, 2023, the balance of the gold reserves of Kyrgyzstan in the vault of the National Bank of the country was almost 44 tons, Maliyev said. He noted that according to the data of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the commercial bank UBS in Switzerland has one more ton.

“Today, the total volume of gold reserves is about 47 tons,” the deputy emphasized and added that in January the volume of gold was 45 tons.

Maliyev and member of the Commission Nadira Narmatova stressed that the commission had been studying the issue of gold mining and sales since the transfer of Kumtor Gold Company to the ownership of Kyrgyzstan, without touching upon issues in the field of its economic activity.
