Employees of the Agency for Financial Monitoring of Kazakhstan (AFM) discovered a scheme according to which grain brought from Russia under the guise of Kazakh grain was exported to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the TASS agency with reference to the AFM.

"Employees of the AFM department for the Kostanay region exposed the criminal activities of a group of persons engaged in the gray import of grain from the Russian Federation by road, underestimating the volume of imported grain. In the period 2021-2022, these persons exported Russian grain to Uzbekistan in the amount of 4.8 thousand tons per more than 500 million tenge ($1 million)," the statement said.

At the same time, when exporting this grain in order to evade payment of the international transit tariff, the attackers indicated that it was produced in Kazakhstan by using fictitious invoices from local farms. This allowed them to evade a transit tariff of almost 88 million tenge ($193,000).

Pre-trial investigation into this fact continues.
