Since April 1, a goods monitoring system has been launched in Kazakhstan in order to prevent circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko told Al-Jazeera TV channel. The introduction of the system will not allow the use of the territory and jurisdiction of Kazakhstan for the supply of sanctioned goods to Russia.
“There is no customs control on the border between Kazakhstan and Russia, and there are 51 border crossings between our countries. You can imagine the intensity of the daily exchange. But since the first day of the conflict (in Ukraine) we have said that although we do not impose sanctions against Russia, we will not allow our territory to be used to bypass sanctions either,” the diplomat said.
Vasilenko recalled that Kazakhstan also receives goods from countries such as China, India, Vietnam, which have not imposed sanctions against Russia. Only such imported products go to Russia without hindrance, he said.
Kazakhstan has implemented an online monitoring system that will track all goods crossing the Kazakh border. With the help of innovation, Kazakhstan will demonstrate compliance with the restrictions imposed by Western countries against Russia, Vasilenko explained.
