The meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries is coming to an end in the Japanese resort town of Karuizawa (Nagano Prefecture). They have already agreed to cooperate in solving the problems faced by the countries of Central Asia, TASS reports.
"Regarding Central Asia, [Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa] Hayashi, chairing the meeting, pointed out the importance of supporting the five countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) in addressing the specific problems they face," the meeting organizers said. The ministers, as noted, "shared the view that the G7 countries will continue to cooperate in solving the problems of the region."
Japan, which chairs the G7 this year, has recently paid great attention to the development of relations with the countries of Central Asia. In November 2022, the Association of Members of Parliament for Friendship between Japan and the Countries of Central Asia was established in Tokyo, headed by the deputy chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Taro Aso.
At the beginning of December last year, the Central Asian Investment Forum (Central Asia Investment Forum 2022) was also held in the Japanese capital with the participation of representatives of the authorities and business of the Central Asian countries.
