Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held talks in Brussels with European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson and reached an agreement to start official consultations on facilitating the visa regime for citizens of Kazakhstan, Ritmeurasia.org reports.

Kazakhstan unilaterally introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of all EU states back in 2017 to develop business cooperation, tourism and human contacts.

Nurtleu informed the interlocutor in detail about the visa policy of Kazakhstan and the absence of migration risks for the European Union from Kazakhstan, as well as about the measures taken by the country's government to combat illegal migration, and other important aspects of work in this direction.

In turn, I. Johansson stated that the European Union is interested in further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan and is committed to expanding contacts between the citizens of the parties.
