The Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant-General Bakhodir Kurbanov, received the Minister of Defense of Italy, Crosetto Guido, who arrived in Uzbekistan, the Nova24.uz portal reports.
The development of relations between Uzbekistan and Italy, based on equality, mutual trust and respect, has reached a new level in recent years, the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan notes.
In connection with the expanding cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and social spheres, Uzbekistan and Italy have common goals in the fight against extremism, religious radicalism, international terrorism and other threats, the two ministers said at the talks in Tashkent.
During the meeting, the defense ministers discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense, as well as the prospects for its development.
The parties also noted that holding staff talks between the defense departments of the two countries in order to further strengthen and develop military cooperation is becoming traditional.
