The Astana Economic Forum in the capital of Kazakhstan successfully functioned from 2008 to 2019 before its renaming. Today, its original reincarnation is taking place: on June 8-9, its successor, the Astana International Forum, will start working at the Congress Center in Astana.
The topic of the forum is "Overcoming challenges through dialogue: on the path of cooperation, development and progress."
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, is expected to attend the Forum. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, Secretary General of the SCO Zhang Ming and a number of others agreed to take part.
The program will be based on the following areas:
- Foreign policy and international security;
- International development and sustainability;
- Energy and climate change;
- Economics and finance.
In total, the program includes more than 40 panel sessions, informal discussions and other events.
