Afghanistan intends to intensify trilateral negotiations on the implementation of the TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan) power transmission line project, Acting Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Afghanistan Abdul Latif Mansour said, Orient.tm reports.

He stated this following the results of negotiations with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan Khoja Ovezov, Bakhtar news reports.

During the talks, which were also attended by the head of the Afghan energy company Da Afghan Breshna Sherkat, Mohammad Hanif Hamza, the parties pledged to hold meetings to accelerate the construction of a new energy highway, as well as a substation in Herat.

TAP is a "satellite" of another major project - the TAPI gas branch, which will ensure the export of Turkmen blue fuel to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is becoming the largest exporter of electricity in Central Asia. 65% of Kyrgyzstan's electricity imports are from Turkmen electricity.
